A 29-year-elderly person, Ogbonna Ogona, was on Wednesday brought before a Yaba Chief Magistrates' Court in Lagos for supposedly tricking his sweetheart of N4.8m.

Ogona, who dwells in Ikeja zone of Lagos, is confronting two tallies of taking and goal to swindle, offenses he denied submitting.

Investigator, Mr. Roman Unuigbe, told the court that the blamed submitted the offenses at some point in October 2017 in Agege territory of Lagos.

Unuigbe asserted that the complainant, Nneka Ejezie, had offered N4.8m to the blamed, her then sweetheart, to lease a shop for her at Computer Village in Ikeja and stock it with telephone frill.

As indicated by the complainant, at some point in October 2017, she endowed the charged with the concurred aggregate to help her in leasing a shop and getting a few merchandise.

"My ruler, the blamed did not pay the lease for any shop nor buy the telephone adornments. Rather, he insincerely changed over the whole cash to his own utilization.

"When she started to ask of the shop, he changed his telephone number and his location and she couldn't contact him any longer," Unuigbe said.

The investigator noticed that the offenses repudiated areas 287 and 314 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State 2015 (Revised).

The News Agency of Nigeria reports that Section 287 stipulates a three-year imprison term for the offense of taking, while Section 314 stipulates 15 years for plan to swindle.

Boss Magistrate Peter Ojo conceded the blamed to safeguard in the aggregate for N500,000 with two sureties in like total.

Ojo said that the sureties must be productively utilized with a proof of three years' duty installment to the Lagos State Government.

He dismissed the case until December 21 for preliminary.
